Box Score ALPINE, Texas – In their final true road game of the season, the East Texas Baptist University scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to sweep Sul Ross State University 2-1. ETBU improves to 30-6 overall this season, and to 22-5 in American Southwest Conference action. SRSU falls to 13-24 overall and 8-19 in ASC play.
ETBU had five different batters record a hit in the contest: Lindsey Vasquez, Linzie Lewis, Jayme Perez, Lacey Lindsey, and Katy Hill. Katy Hill tied the game in the top of the seventh with a single, and Gabby Gonzales brought Hill home for the game-winning run with a sacrifice bunt. Jordan Anderson pitched a complete game, picking up her 13th win to move to 13-2 overall. Anderson allowed one run on nine hits, striking out five batters. Perez picked up career hit #200 in the win.
SRSU scored first in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI double from Gabriella Raimondi to give the Lobos a 1-0 lead. Hill and Gonzales teamed up to drive home two runs for ETBU, securing the series sweep over SRSU.
SRSU had nine hits as a team, led by Destanie Hernandez and Zuriah Leyva two hits each. Jackie Gonzales allowed two runs in 7.0 innings on five hits, dropping her record to 7-15 this season.
ETBU will return to Taylor Field next weekend against Hardin-Simmons University. ETBU and HSU will play a double header on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m. Senior Day will be on Saturday for the series conclusion starting at 12:00 p.m.
