ABILENE, Texas – Opening up the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament in style, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team swept Concordia University-Texas, 5-0, to advance to semi-finals against Hardin-Simmons University. ETBU won doubles 3-0, before winning two single matches for the win over Concordia.

Kate Bramlett and Kaleigh Smith won #1 doubles 8-2 over Leyla Martinez and Justus Aarhus. Tiffany Stankiewicz and Elisa Kendall defeated Lisette Mata and Hayley Anderson, 8-4, in #2 doubles and then Kellie Cawthon and Mullika Seekhieo defeated Serena Segel and Camille Kempf, 8-2, in #3 doubles.

Bramlett won her #1 singles match over Martinez 6-0, 6-1 to pick up the fourth win. Cawthon defeated Kempf 6-2, 6-2 to end the match in favor of ETBU. Kendall, Stankiewicz, and Jabree McClaine were all ahead of their opponents at the time when the match was called.

ETBU will advance to take on Hardin-Simmons University at 2:00 p.m. in the ASC semi-finals.
