ABILENE, Texas – In the American Southwest Conference Semi-Finals for the second straight season, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team defeated host Hardin-Simmons University 5-3 to advance to the ASC Championship Final Round for the second straight season.

Kate Bramlett and Kaleigh Smith won #1 doubles in a 9-7 tiebreaker over Shayne Cook and Michaela Ellison. Tiffany Stankiewicz and Elisa Kendall defeated Jasmine Briant and Kyra Mobley, 8-0, in #2 doubles. Kellie Cawthon and Mullika Seekhieo fell to Jenna Smith and Hannah Smith 5-8, in #3 doubles.

Kendall won the first singles game for ETBU, winning on a tiebreaker in the third set 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) over Jenna Smith. Stankiewicz won match number four for ETBU, defeating Ellison 6-1, 6-2. Cawthon won the decisive match number five over Mobley 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, 6-2.

ETBU will advance to take on the University of Texas at Tyler at 11:00 a.m. in the ASC Final Round.
