MARSHALL, Texas – In their first American Southwest Conference match of the season, the East Texas Baptist University women's team hung on to a tight 2-1 win over the Concordia University-Texas Tornadoes. ETBU now has a three-match winning streak that has put their record at 4-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
"This was a huge win for our program. To start this new season with three points at home is phenomenal for us. We haven't beat Concordia since 2010. Our ladies showed a lot of character and a lot of class," said head coach

The match begun with both teams trading a stretch where they kept possessions in the opposition's side of the field. After 35 scoreless minutes, ETBU finally broke through on a goal scored by

In the second half, ETBU's chances on goal continued as the pressure broke through again as
Chase Swann made it 2-0 with a goal from 18 yards out in the 62
nd minute. ETBU then fired on all cylinders to tack on more, but Concordia-Texas' Shelby Franco kept the game tight. Concordia-Texas would be rewarded with a penalty kick from Cayla Gonzalez in the 84
