ABILENE, Texas - Two second half goals by McMurry University would prove to be the difference in the match as the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team was unable to strike a goal following a 2-0 loss to the War Hawks. ETBU now holds a 2-4-1 record overall and are 0-3-0 in the American Southwest Conference.
Neither team was able to strike a goal despite shot chances by both teams in the first half. ETBU's defense was able to keep McM off the scoresheet for 74 minutes. That was before Jordan Sczech scored the first of his two goals in the 75th minute. He would strike again in the 83rd minute sealing the win for the War Hawks.
ETBU had nine shots overall and seven on net.
Silas Sangano was responsible for three of the shots while
Ivan Adams and
Daniel Rutter had two shots each.
Bryant Botello made three saves in net for the Tigers. Rafael Lara led the War Hawks with five shots of the 19 taken by McM.
ETBU now turns their attention to a Saturday showdown with Hardin-Simmons as the match kicks off at 4:30 p.m
