#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Volleyball Sweeps Sul Ross State in ASC Crossover

LONGVIEW, Texas- Finishing up their first American Southwest Conference crossover tournament at LeTourneau University, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team earned their second conference win of the year sweeping Sul Ross State University, 3-0. Allison Sevening and Paige Miller each tallied 11 kills in ETBU's sweep against the Lobos 3-0 in the final match of the tournament. The Tigers improve to 6-11 on the year and 2-3 in ASC play.

The Tigers stood toe to toe with Sul Ross State in the opening set. With the score knotted at 4-4 a kill by Abby Weaver gave ETBU the early lead at 5-4 off of the assist by Sarah Montemayor. The freshman would find herself involved in the next three plays, getting a service ace to take a two point lead and setting up Paige Miller for the kill to bring the game to 7-4.
SRSU came back to take the lead at 12-10 until the Tigers rattled off nine unanswered points to take their largest lead of the contest at 19-10. The blue and gold would go on to close out set one 25-15.

It was all Tigers in set two, jumping out to the early 7-0 lead. The team managed a 10 point advantage in the set, and went on to win 25-15 once again.

Sul Ross State would strike first in set three, but it was not enough to overcome ETBU's aggressive attack. It was a neck and neck battle at 12-12 until the Tigers outscored the Lobos 13-5 to grab the 3-0 sweep on Saturday afternoon.

Miller and Sevening manned the attack with 11 kills each. Elyse Shaw had 24 helpers on the day, while Karina Lay added 18 digs in the win. Bailey Byas had three blocks to lead the defensive effort on Saturday.
ETBU will return to Ornelas Gym on Friday, September 29, to battle Louisiana College. The match is set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
