#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_WS Bring Back Major Win Over Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. – Limiting the home team to just five shots on the evening, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team shut out Millsaps College (2-7-2), 1-0, on Harper Davis Field. With the regional victory, ETBU improves to 5-4-1 overall.

The Tigers were led on offense by Kendall Shirley, who scored the team's only goal on seven total shots. Ashleigh Rondon also attempted a game-high seven shots, four of which came right at the net. Raegan Kappler chipped in four shots and Abigail Bath rounded out the effort with three shots in the game. Defensively, Karrigan Falber recorded three saves to keep the Majors out of the goal. As a team, the Tigers attempted 28 total shots, with 13 coming on goal.

ETBU jumped out on the aggressive end from the early moments of the game. A header by Megan Friend went just wide of the net off of a set up by Kappler. The Tigers had another opportunity to score, but the shot by Bath also rolled wide at the 5:10 mark of the first half, keeping ETBU off the board.

Two early shots by the Majors resulted in saves by Falber to keep the game knotted at 0-0. On the other end, back-to-back shots by Rondon also resulted in saves for the Majors at the 37th and 39th minute of the opening half. After the first 45 minutes, neither team recorded a score, leaving the game all squared at 0-0.

ETBU would finally cash in on the game's only goal at the 73:22 mark of the contest with Shirley taking advantage of a well-timed pass from Kibriana Bonner for the 1-0 lead.
While MC would collect 12 saves in the match, they were unable to score a goal of their own, resulting in a 1-0 victory for the Tigers.

ETBU will return to American Southwest Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Longview, Texas, for a meeting with LeTourneau University at 5:00 p.m.
