BOSSIER CITY, Louisiana – Struggling to counter the defense of the University of Texas Dallas, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team fell to the Comets 2-0 at Freedom Fields. The loss drops ETBU to 7-7-1 overall and 4-6-0 in the ASC.

Kendall Shirley (one shot on goal) would have two shots each while
Megan Friend recorded one shot during the game. Goalkeeper
Maddie Rea would allow two goals while making two saves. Claire Montodon also had two saves. The Comets were led by a two shot game from Jessica Rusk, who along with Stephanie White, tallied a goal for the Comets. Monica Dallacasa would make one save throughout the entire game in goal for UTD.
ETBU would have an early opportunity to get on the board first in the fifth minute of the game as a header was blocked by the Comets' defense. After their first shot went high over the net, UTD would manage to capitalize on their second shot of the game in the 12
th minute with a goal from Rusk. ETBU then tried to apply pressure as they would manage to shoot five shots for the rest of the half. None of their shots were able to reach the goal while Rea would make a key save in the 40
th minute. Still, UTD kept the one-goal lead heading into the break.
The Comets would get an insurance goal from White three minutes into the second half to go up 2-0. UTD would then try to tack on more goals. But both Rea and
Claire Montondon would hold their own as they held down UTD to keep the margin at two. The rest of this half would see the Comets hold ETBU to just three shots, including a save on a header in the 69
th minute. ETBU's last chance to get on the scoreboard happened in the 83
rd minute when a shot went wide of the net. This would seal the victory for UTD as they would finish the shutout in the final seven minutes winning 2-0.
ETBU will return to Cornish Field on Saturday as they host Howard Payne University at 5:00 p.m. It will also be Senior Day where Friend and
Cristal Monzon-Hernandez will be honored for their careers at ETBU.
