MARSHALL, Texas – Opening American Southwest Conference play with a flawless record, the #9/10 East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team will travel to Belton, Texas, for a matchup against the #24 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday, Nov. 29. The team will close out the week in Austin, Texas, for a contest against Concordia (TX) on Saturday, Dec. 1. ETBU enters conference play at 6-0 overall.
Leading the Tigers this season is
Kendrick Clark who is averaging 12.5 points per game on 50.8 percent from the floor to go along with 13 steals for the year.
Kayla Bise ranks second on the team in scoring, with 8.7 points per game. Bise is the team's No. 1 three point shooter, connecting on 17 shots from distance for a 56.7 percent shooting percentage.
Valarie Matlock rounds out the top three scorers with 8.2 points per game while shooting a blistering 75 percent from the floor.
Taylor Singleton is the reigning ASC Player of the Week averaging a team-high 4.7 assists, along with four rebounds. Singleton also leads the team in steals, at 3.2 per game.
Anna Moss is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 5.2 per night.
Overall, ETBU averages 76.5 points per game on 44.8 percent shooting from the field and 33.8 percent from distance. The Tigers are outscoring their opponents by an average of 28.3 points per game. Defensively, ETBU has forced 27.8 turnovers, while only allowing a shooting percentage of 30.1 percent from the field and 23.9 percent from the three point line. The Tigers are also collecting 39.7 rebounds.
UMHB also enters ASC action with a flawless record on the year. The Cru is 4-0, with their last victory coming against Schreiner University, 71-56, on Sunday, Nov. 25. The Cru will look to avenge the loss to ETBU in the ASC Tournament Championship game from last year, 71-70. In the overall season series, UMHB owns the record winning 10 of the 19 matchups.
Hannah Holt leads the Cru averaging 16.5 points per game.
Concordia (TX) enters this week's ASC contests with an overall record of 1-4. The Tornados picked up their only win of the season against Schreiner University on Tuesday, Nov. 20. ETBU is 10-8 through the first 18 series matchups against CTX. ETBU defeated the Tornados at home last season, 68-49. Kaycie Dunkerley leads CTX this season with 13.4 points per game.

Rusty Rainbolt talked about his team's mindset in the wake of Thursday's matchup against rival UMHB.
"It's going to be a fun game. We just want to be a team that shows up every night and is consistently competitive. I want us to be a team that does it in a way that honors the Lord. Whether we win or lose, we hope people see Jesus in this program," Rainbolt said.
Thursday's ASC contest against UMHB is set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. from Mayborn Campus Center.
