Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – Taking on a NCAA Division II program that made the national tournament in 2017, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team earned one point in an 8-1 loss to Dallas Baptist University. ETBU is now 1-1 on the year and heads to Austin College for a Saturday morning match.
"It was a hard fought match facing a great NCAA Division II program who went to the national tournament last year. We played well, but they played better. Elisa saved the day for us gaining one point," said head coach
Jeff Bramlett.
ETBU fell in all three doubles matches, 8-4, 9-8, 8-3, in the number 1, 2, and 3 matches.
Ashley Schenck and
Kaleigh Smith played the number two doubles match and almost earned the point falling 9-8. They lost the tie breaking point, 10-5.
In singles, Kendall earned ETBU's single point at number two singles. She battled back being down 3-6 to win 6-3, 10-8, over Tijerina.
ETBU will face NCAA Division III regional competition on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in Sherman, Texas, against Austin College.
