#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Baseball Has Dominant Pitching in Win over LeTourneau

MARSHALL, Texas – Two runs would prove to be all the East Texas Baptist University baseball team would need as they would grind out a 2-1 non-conference victory over LeTourneau University. ETBU is now riding a five-game winning streak as they are now 6-2 on the season.

Offensively, Casey Combs led the team with three of the 10 hits while KJ Miller (HR) and Jeremy Bateman (2B), would drive in the only runs of the game. On the mound, Blaine Parker got the win by allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven batters in seven innings of work. Jordan O'Bannon would get the six-out save with 2.0 IP retiring all six batters he faced while striking out two batters.  Andrew Harlan took the loss for LETU allowing two runs on 11 hits and struck out two batters.

After a scoreless top of the first, ETBU threatened with a two-out rally from Zach Gartner, who reached on an error and a single by Combs before Landen Barns was retired. Parker would hold LETU to just one hit and one runner left on base through the first three innings. In the bottom of the fourth, ETBU threatened when singles by Seth Mikeska and Zachary McAdams gave ETBU a runner in scoring position and one out. However, a failed double-steal and a groundout to first ended the rally. LETU did threaten in the top of the fifth as back-to-back singles put the first two men on. But Parker would get out of trouble with a pop out to first, fly out to right, and a grounder back to Parker.

ETBU would finally break the scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth as KJ Miller sent the first pitch to left for a home run and a 1-0 lead. One inning later, Bateman would make it 2-0 on an RBI double that scored Mikeska. The score remained the same until the top of the eighth inning when after a single and a walk allowed by Parker, LETU would score on a sacrifice fly by Valdez. But the tying run was left on third. But O'Bannon would retire the side in the eighth and then completed the six-out save for the 2-1 win.

ETBU will travel to Tyler, Texas tomorrow where they will play Trinity. The first pitch will be thrown at 1:00 PM.
