MARSHALL, Texas – After leading 4-2 through three innings, the East Texas Baptist University were baffled by two seven-run innings as Concordia University would complete the sweep with a 19-9 victory. ETBU now has a 10-10 record overall and are 3-6 in conference play.
Jeremy Bateman and
Dylan Singletary each had two hits while
Casey Combs had five RBI. Taking the loss was

CTX started the game with an RBI single in the top of the first. But the bottom half would see ETBU score three runs on four straight hits from the top four hitters as Gartner and Mikeska would drive in the runs. Then after
Casey Combs grounded out to third, Mikeska scored on an error by CTX. A solo home run by CTX would cut the lead to 4-2 in the top of the second inning. But again, CTX would strike for seven runs in the fifth inning to lead 16-5. But in the bottom of the sixth, Combs drilled a grand slam to make it 16-9. CTX would answer with three runs over the next two innings to increase their lead to 19-9. The game was called in the eighth inning because of a run-rule.
ETBU won't be back in action for another ten days before they take on Millsaps at 5:00 PM in Jackson, Mississippi.
