PINEVILLE, La. – A last inning rally prevented the East Texas Baptist University softball team from sweeping the Louisiana College Wildcats in American Southwest Conference play as they fell 3-2 in eight innings. The loss ends ETBU's ten-game winning streak as they are 17-4 overall and now 11-1 in the ASC.
 
Morgan Arst led ETBU with two hits while she and Linzie Lewis drove in the only runs for the Tigers. Jordan Anderson started the game and pitched 6.1 innings giving up two runs on two hits while walking five and striking out two batters. McKayla Hendrix was tabbed with the loss with 0.2 innings pitched allowing one run on one hit. Abby Sterling, who had the game-winning hit, drove in two runs for the Wildcats. Savannah Settle went eight innings allowing two runs on three hits while to receive the win.
 
Both teams would go through two scoreless innings before Arst would put ETBU ahead 1-0 in the top of the third. Moments later, Lewis would tack on a second run with a single for the Tigers. LC would have a runner in each of the next three innings, but they weren't able to drive them in.
 
The Wildcats would finally breakthrough as a leadoff error by ETBU in the bottom of the sixth allowed the runner to head to second. She would later score to make it 2-1. With one out into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Wildcats loaded the bases. Then, LC would score on another ETBU error to tie the game at two apiece. It would take an eighth inning to decide the outcome as ETBU was held hitless in the top of the eighth inning while LC would deliver the winning run on a single to left in the bottom of the inning.
 
ETBU will resume their road stretch this weekend with the series against LeTourneau University. This Friday will be the doubleheader at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM and Saturday will be 12:00 PM.
