#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Softball Hands LETU Series Sweep in 5-0 Victory

LONGVIEW, Texas- Holding their opponent scoreless for an entire series, the East Texas Baptist University softball team handed LeTourneau University the series sweep behind a 5-0 win on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, ETBU also held LETU scoreless for the entire series and recorded 18 runs in three games. The Tigers improve to 20-4 overall and 14-1 in American Southwest Conference games.

MacKenzie Anderson turned in a big game for ETBU. The junior third baseman collected a homerun, two hits and an RBI. Linzie Lewis recorded a run and a hit in three at-bats, and Daniella Solis added a homerun, two hits and two RBI for the Tigers. Jordan Anderson followed up her stellar performance with more steady work in the circle. Anderson allowed only one hit and struck out six batters in seven innings of play.

MacKenzie Anderson produced ETBU's first run of the contest, hitting a homerun out to left field for the early 1-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets. Morgan Arst was walked to first base on the ensuing sequence. Another walk by LETU put Lewis on first base and advanced Arst to second. Arst would be put out on the next play, but Solis would set the stage for the game's second homerun, which would also score Lewis to increase the lead to 3-0.

The top of the sixth would create another opportunity for ETBU to score. Jackie Ramos singled down the first baseline. Ramos would then steal second base. The sequence would end with the first year right fielder scoring on a throwing error, pushing the lead to 4-0. Arst would collect an RBI that scored Heaven McDonald for the team's final run of the ballgame and the 5-0 lead.

ETBU would cruise to the 5-0 win over ASC rival LETU. The Tigers will travel to Shreveport, La. Where they will face Centenary College on Tuesday, March 27. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
