MARSHALL, Texas- Entering a stretch of five straight home matches, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team will host American Southwest Conference opponents UT Dallas and Belhaven University starting on Thursday, March 29. ETBU will host UTD on Thursday and BU on Friday. Entering the matchup, ETBU is 2-7 overall and 1-0 in ASC play this season.
ETBU's match against #40 CalTech went down to the wire in San Antonio last week. The Tigers won two of the three doubles matches, with the #2 doubles pair of
Ashley Schenck and
Kaleigh Smith and #3 doubles pair of
Jabree McClaine and
Mullika Seekhieo winning by a score of 8-5. In singles play,
Elisa Kendall and
Kaleigh Smith were able to win their matchups 6-3 and 7-5, respectively.
UTD enters Thursday's match with an overall record of 5-2 and an ASC record of 2-0. The Comets have dropped their last two matches, losing 5-4 against #34 Redlands and 9-0 against #3 Claremont-Mudd Scripps. Â Â
BU comes into Friday's contest with an overall record of 1-11 and a 0-1 record in ASC play. The Blazers' last match was against the University of Texas-Tyler, where they fell to the Patriots 9-0.
Thursday's home match is set to kick-off at 3:00 p.m. Friday's contest is slated to start at 9:00 a.m. from Veterans' Memorial Tennis Complex. Â
