#TIGERSWIN: Six-Run Seventh and Seven Pitchers Garner Victory for @ETBU_Baseball

MARSHALL, Texas – Using a six-run inning and seven pitchers to key the victory, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team defeated #13 Centenary College 11-4 at Woods Field. This win puts ETBU at 10-7 overall with a three-game winning streak.

Offensively, ETBU led by Landen Barns, who finished with three hits, including an RBI and two runs scored. Zachary McAdams drove in three RBI for ETBU while Dylan Singletary scored three runs. For CC, Andrew Russell, Cody Crowder, and Ian Graham each had two hits.

On the mound, Call Florence started the game going 1.0 IP walking one batter and surrendering one hit. Garrett Penny (1.1 IP, two runs, one hit, two walks), Chad Boudreaux (0.2 IP, one hit, one run, two strikeouts), Alek Arellano (1.2 IP, two hits, one walk, one strikeout), Derrick Findley (2.1 IP, two hits, one strikeout), Cody Pierce (1.0 IP, two hits, one run, one walk, two strikeouts), and Jonathon Sylvester (1.0 IP, one hit, one walk) teamed up to finish the final eight innings with Findley taking the win. While Cole Godkin (1.0 IP, two hits, two runs, two walks) started the game, Jackie Allen took the loss with 3.0 IP allowing three runs on three hits while walking one and two strikeouts.

CC threatened early with a single and a one-out walk in the top of the first inning. But a couple of base-running mistakes eliminated both runners as ETBU came to bat. A leadoff triple by Bateman was followed by a wild pitch, which scored Bateman to make it 1-0. After a walk to Singletary, Gartner drove him in with a double to make it 2-0. ETBU's lead would evaporate as CC would scratch across three runs in the top of the third inning. But ETBU answered with three of their own in the bottom half of the third inning as an RBI single by Landen Barns and an RBI double by Zachary McAdams made the score 5-3.

CC would load the bases in the top of the fifth inning with two outs before Findley collected a big strikeout to end the inning. Then came the seventh inning as ETBU scored six runs for an 11-3 lead. Seth Mikeska delivered an RBI single to left before McAdams was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 7-3 ETBU. Then RBI singles by KJ Miller and Dylan Sumpter made the score 10-3 before Jeremy Bateman grounded out to drive in the eleventh run for ETBU. The Gents would tack on a run in the eighth to make the final score 11-4.

ETBU will host Concordia this weekend at Taylor Field. Friday night's game will start at 7:00 PM while Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
