Box Score MARSHALL, Texas- Looking to bounce back from a tough loss on Thursday, the East Texas Baptist University surrendered only one loss in the stellar 8-1 victory over American Southwest Conference rival LeTourneau University. With the ASC win, ETBU improves to 4-9 overall and 3-1 in conference matches this season.
The Tigers kicked things off in doubles play, where the No. 1 doubles team of
Tess Willis and
Elisa Kendall took down the LETU's doubles pair of Maddison Brackenberg and Terin Murray 8-4. The No. 2 doubles team of
Ashley Schenck and Kaleight Smith won their match 8-2, and the No. 3 doubles pair of
Jabree McClaine and Millika Seekhieo rounded out the sweep with an 8-1 win.
In singles play, Willis came away with the win over Brackenberg (6-4, 6-1) in the No. 1 singles competition. Kendall defeated Murray 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. Smith and McClaine each notched victories at the No. 3 and No. 5 match. Seekhieo would have the closest contest, needing an extra set before taking down LETU's Katy Hall (6-0, 4-6, 10-2) at the No. 4 singles spot.
ETBU will close out the regular season and the home stand with a match against the Ozarks on Friday, April 20. Â Â
