#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Softball Rake Up 11 Runs Sweeping McMurry

MARSHALL, Texas – Unleashing 11 runs in three innings, the East Texas Baptist University softball team run-ruled McMurry University in five innings, 11-2, to complete the sweep of the American Southwest Conference series. ETBU had three home runs in the first two innings for nine RBI. ETBU is now 27-7 overall and 20-4 in ASC.

ETBU's offense was led by Daniella Solis who had two hits and three RBI while Sabrina Salts had four RBI on a grand slam home run. Grace Camacho (HR) and Morgan Arst also had two RBI in the game. Rocki Tello continued her undefeated season as she went all five innings allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts moving to 11-0. For the War Hawks, Ashley McClellan, Rachel Ripley, Summer Quiroga (RBI) and Lexi De La Cruz had a hit while Kayla Otis had an RBI in the game. Cheyenne West started for McM and took the loss with just 0.1 innings pitched in which she allowed six runs on four hits while walking two batters.

ETBU did have to overcome a two-run deficit after the top of the first inning before going off offensively. "Those runs motivated to push back," said Solis. "We were behind our pitcher and we got those runs back. Our bats just kept on going and it fell through."

The bottom of the first inning was a big one for ETBU as they answered with six runs for a 6-2 lead. This came from a single by Arst and home runs by Solis and Camacho. ETBU then picked up a second-inning grand slam from Salts who made it 10-2 after two innings.

After a scoreless inning from Tello in the top of the third, ETBU would tack on another run in the bottom of the third on an Arst groundout. This was all ETBU would get as Tello was able to secure the last six outs to preserve the victory.

ETBU will next head out to Austin, Texas, to take on Concordia-Texas this weekend in ASC play. Friday's doubleheader starts at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM while Saturday's finale will be at 12:00 PM.
