MARSHALL, Texas – Playing for seniors Jabree McClaine and Kendall Vogt on senior day, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team had no trouble with the University of Ozarks Eagles shutting them out, 9-0. ETBU ends the regular season at 5-9 and 4-1 in the American Southwest Conference East Division.
Yielding only three games to UO in doubles play, the pair of Ashley Schenck and Kaleigh Smith (#2 doubles) would shutout their opponents 8-0 while Elisa Kendall and Tess Willis (#1 doubles, 8-1) and McClaine and Mullika Seekhieo (#3 doubles, 8-2) made it 3-0 heading into the singles play.
The momentum continued as ETBU took all six singles matches as Willis (#1 singles), Kendall (#2 singles), Seekhieo (#4 singles), McClaine (#5 singles), and Schenck (#6 singles) would each have a shutout in their matches. Smith would have the closest match at 6-3, 6-1 to complete the victory.
ETBU will now travel to the University of Texas Tyler where the ASC Championship Tournament will be held at next weekend.
