TYLER, Texas – The top two teams in the American Southwest Conference faced off for the lead in the conference and #11 East Texas Baptist University dropped a doubleheader to #3 University of Texas at Tyler, 4-2, and 10-2. ETBU is now 24-6 overall and 17-3 in the ASC.
Game 1
UTT 4, ETBU 2
ETBU opened the scoring in the first inning when
Daniella Solis grounded out to the short stop scoring
Morgan Arst.
MacKenzie Anderson singled in
Sabrina Salts to push the lead to 2-0 after half an inning. UTT would tie the game at two from a pair of home runs from Lindsey Mitchell in the second and fourth innings. They would then round out the scoring in the fourth inning scoring two more runs to make it 4-2. Colleen Bentke earned the win for the Patriots throwing a complete game giving up four hits and two runs both of them earned while striking out
three batters. For ETBU,
Jordan Anderson took the loss and went six innings allowing five hits and giving up four runs, two of them earned while striking out four batters. Four players had one hit for ETBU
Game 2
UTT 10, ETBU 2
UTT jumped on the board in the first inning with three runs. ETBU cut the lead to one on a walk by
Morgan Arst with the bases loaded that scored
Brea Robinson. UTT would tack on five runs in the third inning for an 8-1 lead. One more run came in the in the fourth and fifth innings. ETBU added a run in the 5th inning on a single from
Sabrina Salts to make the score 9-2.
Chelsea Ham took the loss going 2.2 innings giving up eight earned runs with no strikeouts.
Rocki Tello finished the final 1.2 innings allowing two earned runs.
Linzie Lewis had two hits for ETBU.
ETBU looks to bounce back in the final game of the series at the University of Texas at Tyler at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
