This trip to Israel has been such a great experience and I am so grateful for the opportunity to see the Holy Land and experience the culture. Today we visited Haifa and the Holocaust Survivor Center. I had the honor of listening to a woman by the name of Yudith tell her story of the war and her experiences through the Holocaust. She was born in the Czech Republic and was nine years old when the Germans invaded and took them from their home. She experienced and survived a number of concentration camps and by the time the war was over, all she had left was her brother, who was a soldier, and her sister, who was with her in the camps. Today she has children and grandchildren that live in the United States.
We also had to opportunity to walk through a museum dedicated to the survivors living at the center. Several have written books and many have sculptures or paintings displayed in the museum. The videos and interviews leave you speechless. The survivors are inspired to tell their story, so no one forgets what happened during the Holocaust.
After a big lunch in Haifa were given the opportunity to have a little fun and swim in the Mediterranean Sea. The water was crystal clear! It was a very good day overall and this trip has been a blessing and a once in a lifetime experience. I'm thankful to share this with my ETBU family and it's something I'll always remember
