  ABOUT ORNELAS GYMNASIUM

Ornelas Gymnasium, a gift from the Ornelas family of Tyler, was built in 1995 and replaced Keys Gymnasium as the home to ETBU volleyball and men's and women's basketball. Ornelas Gym has bowl-stype seating, with three levels of seating extending down to the gym floor. The facility includes bleacher seats at floor level, reserved chairback in a mezzanine level and upper level general admission bleachers.

Ornelas Gym is one of the toughest places to play in NCAA Division III because of the atmosphere from the student section. At one point, ETBU volleyball had the third longest home winning streak of 18-matches from 2012-2015. The men's basketball team matched that with the longest home winning streak from 2014-16 which went to 22-games including going 18-0 in the 2014-15 season.

The men's basketball team won their first-ever American Southwest Conference tournament championship in Ornelas Gym in March 2015 and then hosted the NCAA Division III Tournament first and second rounds winning both games to advance on to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8.

Coming in 2018-19, Ornelas Gym will also be home to ETBU's new acrobatics and tumbling team.
