TYLER, Texas – Momentum from Saturday's win over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor carried over to Sunday morning in another elimination game as #14 East Texas Baptist University took it too Concordia University-Texas, 6-1, in the American Southwest Conference Tournament. ETBU kept their chances for another ASC title alive as they held the Tornados to four hits improving to 33-10 on the year. ETBU advances to the ASC Championship game against #3 Texas Tyler at 1:00 p.m.
Jordan Anderson had another stellar performance with nine strikeouts retiring the first five batters of the game running her streak to 24 straight batters retired from the night before. With the win, she is now 17-3 on the year.
Linzie Lewis led the team going 2-for-2 with a RBI and a run scored.
Daniella Solis also had two hits, one a home run, and two RBI.
Sabrina Salts added a RBI with a home run. Grace Comacho also added a RBI.
ETBU jumped on CTX early as Salts homered to straight center field to make it 1-0. Lewis made it 2-0 in the third inning on a sacrifice fly as
Morgan Arst came in. CTX's only run came in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run. Solis broke open the game in the fifth inning with a two-run home run to left field making it 4-1. Camacho followed with a single up the middle as Lewis came in for a four-run lead, 5-1. In the sixth inning, a CTX error on Arst's at-bat allowed
Heaven McDonald to score as the lead was moved to five runs, 6-1.
ETBU advances to their 11
th ASC Tournament Championship game as they have won eight. They are meeting UTT for the sixth time in the championship game winning three of those.
