Day six marked our last day in Kingston before we continue our journey back to Montego Bay. Upon entering Maxwell's Children Home for the second and final time, we were greeted with familiar, joyous faces ready to take part in the days festivities. We began by hearing teammates testimonies of perseverance and determination through prayer and then moved on to a group spelling bee contest. It was amazing to learn more about my teammates on a deeper level than ever before through their trust in God during challenging times.

Leaving the children was the hardest part of this journey so far. Final embraces involving hugs, fist bumps, and in some cases the giving away of our shoes to those who were in need were our last memories with them. As we loaded the bus for our three hour ride home, all I could think about was how much what we just did related to scripture.

John 13:1-17 and the washing of feet of the disciples by Jesus comes to mind as we served these kids. Jesus called the disciples together and asked them to remove their sandals so that He could wash their feet. The disciples were confused why Jesus was taking a servant role to which Christ replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand."

As we gave our shoes to the children, to me that signified the washing of their feet and the seed of our message for them to pass on and share.  Everyone of those kids, regardless of not having material things, impacted us and our message that we will continue to share.

The last part of our day was spent at the ocean. After such a jam packed week of serving the Jamaicans, spending a little time having fun with my teammates was a blessing as well.  I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to change lives and spread God's word but at the same time I am so lucky that I have experienced God's goodness in my heart while on this excursion.
