ROUND ROCK, Texas – Trying to find their offense in the second game on the road this week, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team dropped the match 3-0 to Concordia (TX) on Saturday, Sept. 15. With the loss, ETBU is 2-3-1 overall and 0-2 in the ASC.
Raegan Kappler led the effort for the Tigers with four shots total, two coming right at the net.
Abigail Bath and
Ashleigh Rondon each took two shots in the match. Defensively,
Maddie Rea recorded five saves. Savannah McHam led the way for CTX, chipping five total shots and scoring two goals overall.
The Tornados recorded the game's first goal of the match, when McHam sent the ball right through the net off of the assist by Emily Newton at the 18 minutes into the first period.
ETBU would have the opportunity to score 12 minutes later, but the shot attempt by
Kendall Shirley was saved by CTX's Shelby Franco.
The Tigers entered halftime down 1-0, unable to convert on their four attempts in the first 45 minutes of play.
The Tornados scored two more goals in the second period, one by Kaycee Moore in the first 11 minutes, and another goal by McHam at the 61:54 mark of the contest to increase the lead to 3-0.
The Tigers will return to Cornish Field on Thursday, Sept. 20, facing Hardin-Simmons at 5:00 p.m.
