Colorado College Slips By @ETBU_Soccer in Wet Conditions

MARSHALL, Texas – Playing in wet conditions at Cornish Field, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team was defeated by Colorado College, 3-0, in a regional match. ETBU is now 4-4-1 overall.

With four shots overall by ETBU, Tristan England led the team with two shots. In goal, Justin Groves faced 16 shots while making nine saves. For CC, Miles Montgomery and Will Mallory each had three shots while Jackson Silverstein, Samson Heyer, and Robert Malone each tallied a goal.  Goalkeeper Keller Mochel made one save.

The first half was all CC as they would control the tempo by having the possession on ETBU's side of the field. It took four minutes before Silverstein put in the first goal on a header for a 1-0 lead. Groves' performance in goal kept the match at one goal the rest of the first half. ETBU would have a few chances to equalize before halftime with one chance being called back due to offside and a breakaway attempt leading to a wide shot. CC led 1-0 at the break.

In the second half, ETBU had offensive opportunities in the first 20 minutes but could not find the net. CC would would capitalize with a goal by Heyer twenty minutes in the second half for a 2-0 lead.  From that point on, ETBU was forced to play in defensive mode. A foul in the box by ETBU led to Malone converting a penalty kick in the 75th minute for a 3-0 score.

ETBU hits the road this Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. game against Hendrix College in Arkansas.
