BSC's Strong 2nd Half Hands @ETBU_Soccer Loss on the Road

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Unable to overcome a second half surge, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team came up short against Birmingham-Southern College, 4-0, on Goldfarb Field. After the loss, ETBU drops to 1-1 on the season and will face Berry College (Ga.) on Saturday, Sept. 8.
 
Silas Sangano led ETBU in shot attempts, launching three shots total with one coming right on goal. Daniel Rutter chipped in two shots, while Tristan England, Travis Floyd and Juan Cairo each put up one shot on the night. On the defensive end, Justin Groves tallied four saves. Overall, the Tigers totaled 10 shots in the game, with just one shot coming right at the net.
 
BSC attempted a total of 21 shots, nine of which came right on goal. Max Sager, Christian Hernandez, Rafael Milan and Ryan Hepp each scored a goal for the Panthers.
 
The first half was a defensive battle, as neither team was able to put the ball into the net. ETBU attempted four shots compared to BSC's seven in the first 45 minutes of play.
 
The second half saw both teams still looking for their first goal in the first 17 minutes. A free kick by Milan resulted in BSC's first goal of the contest, going up 1-0 at the 62:50 mark of the ballgame. The Panthers would score another goal just nine minutes later to go on top 2-0 with 71:49 to play. BSC added two more goals in the final 18:11 to win the contest 4-0.
 
ETBU's next contest is set to kick-off at 12:00 p.m.on Saturday from Mount Berry, Ga., vs. Berry College.
