SHERMAN, Texas – Adding to the fuel of a four-game winning streak, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team swept the entire Austin College Tournament after picking up wins over Austin College and Sul Ross State, winning all four matches, 3-0. ETBU has now won five consecutive games and improves to 6-4 overall on the season.
Sydney Lopez made the All-Tournament team for her performance finishing with 46 kills and 52 digs including two double-doubles.
Sydney Lopez once again led the Tiger's attack, recording a double-double of 11 kills and 13 digs.
Bailey Byas added eight kills in the win.
Elyse Shaw chipped in 18 assists, while
Meredith Augsburger dished out 15 of her own. On the defensive end,
Lizeth Flores tallied a team-leading three blocks on the day.
Julia De Los Santos contributed an impressive 21 digs in the win.

The first set saw ETBU take control early, scoring the first three points of the match capped off by a kill by Miller.
Over the next several exchanges, AC climbed to within one, 11-10, until the Tigers regained momentum with back-to-back kills by Miller and Flores to go up by two (13-11).
ETBU would close out the set in impressive fashion, outscoring the Roos 12-3 down the stretch, winning 25-14.
The second set opened with Byas capping off an early 4-0 spurt by ETBU with a big time kill.
Allison Sevening would help put ETBU on top by six, 14-8, after recording a kill.
Lopez gave the Tigers their largest lead of the set, 18-11, before ETBU went up 2-0 after the 25-18 set win.
The Roos would only enjoy one lead in the third set, before ETBU completed the sweep with the 25-19 win.

ETBU started the first set with all the momentum, jumping out to yet another 4-0 start capped off by a kill by Lopez.
The Lobos would prove to be resilient, tying the ballgame in the early going at 5-5 over the next few possessions.
A Byas kill put the Tigers back on top 6-5, when SRSU responded with three straight points to regain the lead at 8-6.
The set was all knotted at 11 until Byas answered the call once again with a kill that put ETBU on top 12-11.
The Lobos would draw to within two (23-21) after a six-point Tiger advantage down the stretch. A kill by Lopez and a service ace by Shaw sealed the set win for ETBU, at 25-21.
The Tigers would easily take the next two sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-12, completing a clean sweep of the Austin College Tournament.
Byas led the charge in the final game, turning in 12 kills. Lopez added 11 kills and eight digs. Shaw dished out 26 assists and
Julia De Los Santos manned the defense with 13 digs.
ETBU will next matchup with Texas Dallas in Richardson, Texas, to begin the American Southwest Conference portion of the schedule. The match is set to kick-off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
