MARSHALL, Texas – Holding Louisiana College to four shots the entire match, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team earned their second straight shutout win blanking the Wildcats, 3-0. The win improves ETBU to 5-7-1 overall and 2-4 in the American Southwest Conference.
Finishing with a 25-4 shots advantage Brianna Michskaw (four shots, assist),
Olivia Gallegos (five shots, assist), and Ashleighn Rondon (five shots, assist) each had a goal while
Raegan Kappler (five shots) also contributed an assist in the win.
Maddie Rea would only have one save the entire contest while she and
Karrigan Falber teamed up for the shutout in net.
ETBU would take command of the first half with 14 shots overall but it wasn't until the seventh shot when Mickshaw capitalized at 17:28 to put the Tigers up, 1-0. LC would get their first shot just thirty minutes into the contest, which was also where Rea made the lone Tiger save. At 37:05, Gallegos would make it 2-0 heading into halftime with Kappler contributing to the assist.
The Tigers would play the Wildcats defensively holding them to one shot in the second half while putting up 11 shots. ETBU would have several shots in the second half only to have LC goalkeeper Madison McDowell come up with eight saves. It wasn't until the 85
th minute when Rondon fired a shot that went into the net for the victory-sealer.
ETBU will take to the road on Thursday when they travel to the University of Texas Dallas for a 5:00 PM start.
