RECAP | @ETBU_Soccer Tripped Up by UTD

RICHARDSON, Texas – Strong shooting from the University of Texas Dallas down East Texas Baptist University's chance of an upset as they fell to the Comets, 3-0. ETBU is now 4-9-0 and 3-4-0 in American Southwest Conference men's soccer play.
 
ETBU took seven shots in the match with five on goal while UTD had 15 shots but only six on goal. Max Ponticorvo had three shots with two on goal to lead the team. Silas Sangano had two shots with both on goal and Tristan England added one shot on goal. Cristian Hernandez had two saves in the loss while UTD's John Nicknish had five saves.
 
Sangano took both of his shots on goal in the first 20 minutes of the match in the ninth and 20th minute. The first shot went to the bottom right as the second was the top with UTD's Nicknish stopping them both. UTD's lone goal in the first half came just 18 seconds before the half ended off of a save by Hernandez for a 1-0 halftime lead.
 
ETBU had a shot by Travis Floyd in the 53rd minute that missed but UTD made it 2-0 less than a minute later on a goal by Jovi Munoz. The third goal was in the 81st minute to seal the win.
 
ETBU will travel to Clarksville, Ark., facing the University of the Ozarks on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
