MARSHALL, Texas – Hosting the No. 7 ranked collegiate soccer team in the nation, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team surrendered three goals, falling to the Hardin Simmons University Cowboys 3-0 at home. ETBU dropped to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in American Southwest Conference play.

Mackenson Cadet, Kiko Redondo and Austin Wills each scored goals in the Friday night match. Dominic Wood led the effort in shot attempts for ETBU, tallying five total and three on goal. Silas Sangano was second in total shots, with four on the night and one coming right at the net. As a team, ETBU outshot HSU 15-12 overall. The Cowboys fired nine shots on goal while ETBU managed seven at the net. Christian Hernandez recorded six saves in 12 shots faced.

Cadet scored the first goal of the match at the 30:47 mark of the first half. It would take the Cowboys until the second half to find the game's second goal as Redondo scored with 58:32 to play in the match. Wills would score the final goal of the match to increase the lead to 3-0 at the 69th minute.

Sangano would have several opportunities miss the net in the second half. A shot by Sangano in the 67th minute would result in a team save by HSU. Attempts by Sangano and Travis Floyd just four minutes later would come up empty, leading to the 3-0 loss to the Cowboys.

ETBU will host the McMurry University Warhawks on Saturday, Oct. 5th on Cornish Field at 7:30 p.m.
