#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Softball Runs Winning Streak Seven Games

ALPINE, Texas – Beginning American Southwest Conference play on the other side of Texas, the #21 East Texas Baptist University softball team picked up two wins against the Sul Ross State University Lobos. Starting off 2-0 in ASC play, ETBU is 7-0 overall heading into tomorrow's series finale.

Game one saw the Tigers rally from a 2-0 deficit to win 5-3. ETBU had four players with two hits in MacKenzie Anderson, Beatriz Lara, Daniella Solis, and Emily Deramus while Sabrina Salts and Morgan Arst both hit two-run homers in the game. Lara picked up her fourth complete game win going seven innings allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out four.  Mary Villareal, and Jodie Vaughn, who took the loss allowing five runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts, each had two hits for SRSU.

In game two, ETBU would take command early and never look back as they would walk away 11-4 victors. Anderson had three hits including two homers while Solis (three hits) finished with two RBI. Preslye Cox pitched all seven innings allowing four runs on seven hits with six strikeouts. Payslee Sims was the only Lobo player to reach two hits while starting pitcher Kyndall Dove lasted three innings allowing five runs on six hits as she earned the loss.

Gm 1 – ETBU 5, SRSU 3
After a scoreless first inning on both sides, the Lobos would strike first in the bottom of the second inning on an ETBU error to make it 1-0 early on. A RBI single in the same frame made it 2-0 but ETBU would turn the tables on the Lobos as in the top of the fourth inning, Salts tied the game with a two-run homer to center. Then ETBU loaded the bases before Delgado had a sacrifice fly to give ETBU the lead at 3-2.

SRSU loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning but Lara was able to keep the Lobos stranded as the Tigers kept their lead. In the top of the seventh inning with a runner on, Arst drilled her first career homer that extended ETBU's lead to 5-2. Although the Lobos would cut the deficit to 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Tigers secured the victory.

Gm 2 – ETBU 11, SRSU 4
ETBU pounced on the Lobos in the top of the first inning with three runs including a single by Lara and a two-run homer by Solis. The Lobos would get one run back on an RBI triple by Raimondi. But Solis, Salts, and Jeanette Galvan made a head's up play to prevent the inside-the-park homer. In the third inning, Anderson ledoff hitting a homer to make it 4-1. Lara then reached on an error before Salts drove her in with a double. SRSU added a run in the bottom of the third as ETBU led 5-2 through three innings.

One out into the top of the fifth, Solis and Deramus reached base on by a single and error respectively before Garcia drove Solis in. Both Deramus and Garcia later came in to score on an error by the catcher. SRSU would cut the lead to 8-3 after five innings with a run in the bottom half. Both teams then scored a run in the sixth as Anderson collected her second homer while the Lobos answered with an RBI single to bring the score to 9-4. Then it was Garcia who homered in the top of the seventh inning to make it 11-4.

The final game of the series will start at 12:00 PM on Saturday.
