#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Softball Sweeps Series in 16-0 Win Over SRSU

ALPINE, Texas – Looking to stay unbeaten on the young season, the #21 East Texas Baptist University softball team blanked Sul Ross State University, 16-0, to complete the series sweep. ETBU improves to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the American Southwest Conference.

Beatriz Lara recorded a dual impact in the circle and on the plate. The freshman posted two hits, two runs and three RBI, to go along with two strikeouts in the win. Daniella Solis, Morgan Arst, MacKenzie Anderson, Emily Deramus, Hannah Garcia and Mariah Delgado each recorded two runs in the game.

As a team, the Tigers recorded 19 hits and 14 RBI in a total of 32 at-bats. The Lobos were held to just four hits on the day. Payslee Sims and Mary Villareal each had two hits in a combined five at-bats in the home loss.

Anderson began the day with a double for ETBU, lining out to left field to reach second base at the top of the first inning. Sabrina Salts singled out to the left sending Anderson home for the first run of the game (1-0).

Deramus started things off at the top of the second, recording a single and then stole second base, which set the stage for Garcia. She followed with an RBI as Deramus came in for the game's second run (2-0). Delgado stepped up to the plate and recorded a triple to score Garcia and increase the lead to 3-0. Mackenzie Oltmann, Anderson, Lara and Solis added four runs in the second inning to go on top 8-0.

The Tigers would add eight more runs through the next three innings to come away with the 16-0 victory.

ETBU will return to Taylor Field on Friday, Feb. 22, for a three-game series against Belhaven University. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. in Marshall, Texas, with a double header on Friday night.
