RICHARDSON, Texas – Winning their third straight match to start the 2019 season, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team shut out Howard Payne University, 9-0. ETBU is now 3-0 on the road this season.

Adam Morris and John Herr had the closest doubles match at number one doubles with an 8-3 win over Gabe Benitez and Dominic Denardo. Andrew Deutsch and Tyler Howard won 8-1 at number three doubles and Ty Tarver and Joseph Salinas won the number two doubles, 8-0.

ETBU then swept through the singles matches winning all six. Joseph Salinas won the number one singles match, 6-0, 6-1, and the Morris took number two doubles, 6-0, 6-3. Herr won 6-0, 6-1 in number three as Tyrese Sheffield took the number singles match, 6-1, 6-1. Dalton Barron then won the number five match, 6-0, 6-1, and Reid Adams claimed the number six match, 6-0, 6-0.

ETBU will face the ASC West preseason favorite, the University of Texas Dallas, on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
