MARSHALL, Texas – After jumping out to a 2-0 start with wins over McMurry University, 6-3, and University of the Southwest, 9-0, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team will be back in action after having last week off. The Tigers will travel to Dallas where they will be taking on Howard Payne University and the University of Texas Dallas.

ETBU was able to take 2-of-3 from McM on the doubles side as the #2 doubles pair of Tiffany Stankiewicz and Olivia Parmelly picked up an 8-5 win while the #3 Mullika Seekhieo and Tess Willis won #3 doubles 8-6. On the singles side, as Elisa Kendall (#1, 6-0, 6-3), Stankiewicz (#3, 6-1, 6-2), Kaleigh Smith (#4, 6-2, 6-0), and Seekhieo (#6, 6-3, 6-3) each picked up wins in their respective flights.

The Tigers swept Southwest, 9-0. Seekhieo and Willis would get ETBU their first win with an 8-0 victory. Ashley Schenck and Cassidy Wilcoxson picked up an 8-2 win. Those four would then secure four singles points as Willis won #1 singles 6-2, 6-2. Seekhieo took the #2 singles flight 6-1, 6-4, and Wilcoxson won #3 singles 6-2, 6-3. Schenck secured #4 singles at 6-0, 6-1.

Mullika Seekhieo was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week two weeks ago for her play. She went 4-0 in the two matches against both McMurry University and the University of the Southwest.

HPU comes into Fridays contest with an overall record of 0-1 as they fell, 7-1, to Texas Lutheran University. UTD has yet to play in a match this season.
