@ETBU_Baseball Can't Overcome Ozarks Late Inning Rallies

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – After tying up the score in the top of the sixth inning, the East Texas Baptist University baseball could not hold off the University of the Ozarks late-inning rallies as they fell in the series, 13-3. ETBU is now 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the American Southwest Conference.

Casey Combs (RBI) and Zachary McAdams would have two hits apiece while Brady Faulkner and Jeremy Bateman tacked on an RBI for the Tigers. John Marrs would take the loss with four runs on five hits in 5.1 innings pitched while striking out two batters. UO was led by three hits from Rocky Liveoak and five RBI on two hits from Breydan Varner while starting pitcher Blake Benson pitched all seven innings allowing three runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts.

Two outs into the bottom of the first inning, UO would hit back-to-back homers to jump ahead 2-0. Mikeska led off the top of the second with a double before coming in to score on a Faulkner RBI single.  The game remained the same until the top of the sixth inning when McAdams led off the top of sixth with a single. Advancing to third on a Bateman sacrifice bunt and a Dylan Sumpter single, McAdams came in to score on a Combs single knotting the game 2-2.

But the Eagles would grab control of the game and never looked back as they would tally seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead 9-2. ETBU would manage to get one back in the top of the seventh with a Bateman double. In the end, UO would end the contest in the bottom of the seventh inning with four runs.
