SHERMAN, Texas – Competing against Hardin-Simmons University at a neutral site, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team fell 6-3 to the Cowboys. ETBU is now 3-3 overall.
 
ETBU managed just one win in doubles play as the tandem of Andrew Deutsch and Tyler Howard defeated Christopher Beavers and Nathaniel Schoendorf 8-6 at number three doubles. Joseph Salinas and Ty Tarver would fall 9-7 at number two doubles while John Herr and Adam Morris fell 8-4 at number one doubles.
 
It came down to singles play as ETBU won two matches and fell in two tie breaking matches. Deutsch (#4 singles) and Howard (#5 singles) would win their singles matches as Deustch would win in a tiebreaker 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 while Howard won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Herr (#3 singles; 6-7, 6-1, 8-10) and Tarver (#6 singles; 7-5, 2-6, 3-10) would also have tiebreakers in their singles before falling in their matches.
 
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow at 9:00 AM when they go up against Austin College.
