SEGUIN, Texas - Continuing their historic winning streak to start the season, the #6 East Texas Baptist University softball reached 20 straight victories in a row on Saturday. But after taking the first game, the streak came to an end as the teams split their two-game set. The split results in ETBU having a record of 20-1 of the season through twenty-one games.
Game one was a tight 1-0 victory for ETBU as they didn't get their run until the top of the seventh inning thanks to the second of
MacKenzie Anderson's two hits on an RBI bunt single.
Beatriz Lara went the full seven innings allowing four walks while striking out two batters on four hits. Starting pitcher Kayla Oliveira lasted six innings allowing five hits and two strikeouts. But reliever Jordan Bishop took the loss with one run on three hits.
Game two ended ETBU's streak as the Bulldogs bounced back to win 9-1. Anderson, along with
Nikki Gill and
Emily Deramus would each have two hits on the day while
Kaitlin Hunter out up the only RBI for ETBU on the day.
Preslye Cox took the loss allowing three runs on three hits with three strikeouts. Chassety Raines picked up the complete game victory for TLU with one run on six hits while Casey Martin had three RBI on two hits.
ETBU next hosts the University of Texas Dallas on Friday beginning with a doubleheader at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
