#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Baseball Erupts For 11 Runs vs. Hendrix

MARSHALL, Texas – Putting up three straight innings of two runs or more against Hendrix College on Tuesday night, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team's offensive power was back in action taking an 11-5 win over Hendrix College (17-5).  ETBU has won eight of their last eleven games and are currently 13-8 overall.
 
Dylan Sumpter (RBI, HR), Seth Mikeska (two RBI), and Zachary McAdams (three RBI, HR) all had two hits on the day while Casey Combs also went yard in the game. Five pitchers would be used for the Tigers with reliever Alek Arellano taking the win with 1.2 scoreless innings allowing one hit. Derrick Findley picked up his first save of the season with two perfect innings including a strikeout. Of HC's five hits, Seth Tucker and Jorge Leon would have two RBI each for the Warriors. Tucker would also take the loss allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out four batters.
 
ETBU struck first in the bottom of the first when Mikeska drove in two runs on a double to right. HC knotted the game with two in the top of the second before an inning-ending double play prevented them from going ahead. ETBU would grab the lead back in the bottom of the second with on a double play that led to the go-ahead run.
 
Both teams scored in the fourth with HC scoring on a bases loaded walk while McAdams put ETBU up 4-3 with a single. After a scoreless fifth, HC would score two runs in the top of the sixth to go back up 5-4 only to have a pair of fielder's choice RBIs take place in the bottom of the inning for a 6-5 edge. The Tigers then added two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Barns tripled while Faulkner drove him in on sacrifice fly for an 8-5 ETBU lead.
 
In the eighth inning, ETBU would push their lead to six as they would have three single home runs by McAdams, Sumpter, and Combs to lead 11-5. This would all Findley needed as he finished the six-out save with a perfect ninth inning to preserve the win.
 
Game two of this series will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Woods Field.
