MARSHALL, Texas – Controlling the match from the start, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team was victorious in their first spring home match against Schreiner University, 7-2. ETBU currently stands at 7-4 overall.
ETBU swept the doubles to start the match up, 3-0. Oliva Parmelly and
Kaleigh Smith started things with an 8-5 win at #1 doubles over Katie Smith/Kara Miller.
Tiffany Stankiewicz and
Ashley Schenck came away victors 8-3 against Jennifer Garcia/Kate De Los Santos at #2 doubles. Meanwhile, the #3 doubles pair of
Mullika Seekhieo/
Tess Willis won 8-7 in a tiebreaker over Lauren Stanley/Marlee Daniel.
The Tigers then took four of six singles play as Stankiewicz (#2 singles; 6-1, 6-2) defeated Katie Smith while
Kaleigh Smith (6-3, 6-1) won #3 singles over Stanley. Parmelly (#4 singles; 6-0, 6-3) earned her victory over Miller just as
Cassidy Wilcoxson picked up her win over Kate Woods at #6 singles 6-4, 6-3.
ETBU will host Concordia University (TX) tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. and Louisiana College at 3:00 p.m.
