#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Softball Sweeps Another ASC Series

MARSHALL, Texas – Scoring early and staying ahead of the Eagles, the #3 East Texas Baptist University softball completed the sweep against the University of Ozarks, 7-3. The Tigers are now 27-1 overall and 18-0 in the American Southwest Conference.

MacKenzie Anderson led ETBU with a six-RBI day on three hits, including a home run. Mariah Delgado would also contribute two hits. Beatriz Lara would get the start going two innings as Preslye Cox would earn her second win of the series with one hit allowed and five strikeouts in the final five innings. UO starting pitcher Candace Rogers would take the loss by giving up five runs on seven hits.

Delgado led off the game with a triple before she would score on a sacrifice fly by Lara. But the Eagles would strike back for two runs in the bottom of the second to go up 2-1. The Tigers responded as they scored three runs in the top of the third. Anderson would drive in two runs on a single before she would come in to score on a groundout from Lara. UO scored in the bottom of the third inning, ETBU led 4-3.

ETBU grabbed a run back in the top of the fourth as Anderson reached base on a single scoring Cox. In the bottom of the fourth, UO would put the leadoff runner to third on a Tiger error. Yet, a pair of strikeouts and a fly out to right kept the runner stranded. ETBU extended their lead to 7-3 on an Anderson homer to left in the top of the sixth inning. It was only fitting that she would record all three Eagle outs on ground outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve the sweep.

The Tigers are back home this weekend when they take on LeTourneau University. Friday night will be a doubleheader starting at 5:00 PM.
