ABILENE, Texas - With Beatriz Lara recording an impressive 13 strikeouts on the day, the East Texas Baptist University softball team cruised to a sweep of the doubleheader (6-0, 4-1) against the McMurry University Warhawks on Friday afternoon. Game 1 - ETBU 6, McM 0

ETBU scored the game's first run after a dropped fly ball by McM advanced Sabrina Salts and sent Deramus home for the 1-0 score. Delgado would connect on a single out to third base, making her way to first. A crucial mistake by the Warhawks' outfield led to three unearned runs by the Tigers, sending Garcia, Delgado and Salts home for the 4-0 lead.

ETBU connected on yet another run in the top of the third, when a double by Deramus would send Lara home and further increase the lead to 5-0. The Tigers scored the final run of the ballgame in the top of the fifth. A throwing error would put Deramus on first base, Kaitlin Hunter on second and Gil to the home plate for the unearned run and the 6-0 score. ETBU kept McM off the board and allow only a single hit in the contest in the last inning as Lara had a no hitter through 6.2 innings.

Game 2 - ETBU 4, McM 1

The Warhawks seized momentum early in the second ballgame, scoring the first run after Sarah Nagy was hit by a pitch and sent to first, moving Makayla Krause and Maisa Ryerson to second and third and Rachel Ripley home for the 1-0 score. The Tigers were able to avoid surrendering another run in the bottom of the first inning in spite of a base loaded situation.
