MARSHALL, Texas – After finishing their final series against the University of Texas Tyler, the #4 East Texas Baptist University softball team finish out the regular season on the road against McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. ETBU is making their second trip in three weeks to Abilene after facing Hardin-Simmons University April 12-14.
The last series saw ETBU battle against the Patriots of UTT for the final meeting between these two teams. While ETBU fell short in two of the three games, all three contests were decided by two-runs or less, including a ten-inning, 5-4 victory. In the game,
Corley Carpenter had five hits, including the walk-off winner. She now has the highest batting average on ETBU with .437.
Daniella Solis has 48 hits and 11 doubles to stand in front of everyone while
MacKenzie Anderson has 11 homers.
Beatriz Lara is 17-1 with a 1.48 ERA in the circle while holding on to 35 RBI at the plate.
ETBU has already won the regular season ASC title, guaranteeing them the right to host the post season tournament. The mindset for ETBU remains the same as head coach
Janae Shirley explains. "We still have the task at hand," said Coach Shirley. We're still focused on one game at a time. In the grand scheme of things, every game matters. Not just every series matters but every single game matters when it comes to the playoffs. We really want to make sure we approach each game the same way and get ahead of ourselves."
ETBU will have a doubleheader starting at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Friday while Saturday will have a noon start in Abilene.
