RICHARDSON, Texas – It's back to the American Southwest Conference Championship match for the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team as they took a 5-1 win over Hardin-Simmons University. ETBU is now 14-5 on the season after the victory in the semi-final match.
It was a hard fought two points in doubles play for the 2-1 lead.
Elisa Kendall and
Mullika Seekhieo won 8-3 at #3 doubles over Emily Shaffer/Sabra Zullo for the first point. HSU tied the match up at one in #2 doubles, 9-8, over
Ashley Schenck and
Tiffany Stankiewicz.
Olivia Parmelly and
Kaleigh Smith made it 2-1 holding onto a 9-8 win at #1 doubles over Abigail Kendall and Kyra Mobley.
Seekhieo made it 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-0, win at #6 singles over Jordan Shepley. Stankiewicz then won #3 singles, 6-4, 6-0, over Mobley for the 4-1 lead. Kendall was the decisive point to secure the win with a 6-4, 6-4, win at #1 singles over Maddie Hammond.
ETBU will play the winner of the Texas Dallas/McMurry match for the championship on Saturday.
