ABILENE, Texas – Still one of the top teams in the ITA South/Southwest Regional Fall Tournament, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team put two teams in the championships, one single and one in doubles. Elisa Kendall played for the "A" singles championship and Kelsey Roberts and Kylee Mixon were the "B" Doubles runners-up. ETBU also made the quarterfinals in the "B" singles and doubles.
 
Kendall won five straight matches to head to the championship match and defend her title from 2018. The winner of the match would get the automatic bid to the ITA National Tournament. Kendall started the tournament with two straight wins, 6-1, 6-1, over Kamel (UTD) and 6-0, 6-0 against Wise (Trinity). Her next three matches all went several sets as she pulled off three straight wins before falling 7-5, 7-6, in the championship match.
 
Roberts and Mixon earned victories over Linssen/VanDuyn (LETU), 8-4, Duke/Fambrough (McMurry), 8-5, and Austin/Stevens (CTX), 8-5, for a perfect record. They fell to Vrba/Lee (Southwestern), 8-4, in the "B" Championship match.

Making it to the "B" singles quarterfinals was Maddi Davis while Cassidy Wilcoxson and Abby Jones advanced to the "B" doubles quarterfinals. Davis opened up with two wins over Ozark's Alexandria Corona, 6-1, 6-0, and Hardin-Simmons' Emily Kite, 6-3, 6-4, before bowing out. Wilcoxson and Jones had a first round bye as the #2 seed and then defeated Texas Lutheran's Sosa/Denton, 8-4, before losing in the quarterfinals.
 
Overall, ETBU did well with a young team at the regional tournament.
