RECAP | Second Half Goals Are the Difference for @ETBU_WS in ASC Opener

AUSTIN, Texas – In the first American Southwest Conference match of the year, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team fell, 4-2, to Concordia University-Texas. ETBU is now 3-4-1 overall and 0-1 in the ASC.

Ashleigh Rondon finished as the game's top shooter with four while scoring one goal. She would also be responsible for the assist as Olivia Gallegos would have ETBU's second goal. Maddie Rea would make six saves in net. Four CTX players would find the back of the net while goalkeeper Sofie Gomez only made one save.

Rondon (9:58) would put the Tigers on the board nearly ten minutes into the first half with a goal off the rebound. The Tornadoes would tie up the game in the 18th minute as they would go into the half tied.

ETBU and CTX would remain deadlocked at one until the Tornadoes would score three goals in a row in a span of sixteen minutes to lead 4-1. While the Tigers would cut the lead in half from a goal from Gallegos (83:55), they were unable to get closer as CTX would defend their two-goal lead for the win.

ETBU will face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday in Belton, Texas at 5:00 PM.
