PREVIEW | @ETBU_Softball Headed West in First Road Series

MARSHALL, Texas – Heading out on their first road series of the season, the #13 East Texas Baptist University softball team looks to extend their 4-0 start by taking on Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. This will be the first American Southwest Conference games of the year for ETBU.

ETBU
  • ETBU is 4-0 after a 9-8 victory over Pacific University in nine innings.
  • Swept Hardin-Simmons University in the doubleheader on Friday by scores of 2-1 and 5-4.
  • In the 2-1 win over HSU, Daniella Solis led the team with two hits while Beatriz Lara (RBI) earned the win in the circle with one run on five hits and eight strikeouts.
  • In the 5-4 win, Mariah Delgado drove in three RBI while Kaitlin Hunter recorded two hits, including a homer. Solis recorded the win with 0.1 innings allowing one walk. Lara notched her first save of the season.
  • Against PU, Solis (HR, two RBI) and Corley Carpenter (RBI) finished with three hits apiece while Nikki Gill had two hits. Delgado recorded the walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth inning. Lara went the distance striking out six batters.
  • Solis was named ASC Hitter of the Week in which she batted .455 (five-of-11) with a double, home run, two RBI, and a run scored.

  • In the 6-2 win, Gill tallied three hits while Lara (three RBI, two hits) recorded another complete game win with five strikeouts.
  • Lead the ASC in batting average (.418) and on base percentage (.485) as a team.

  • Third in the ASC with 24 strikeouts by the pitching staff.
  • Hunter leads ETBU and is tied for third with a .600 batting average and a .692 on base percentage while second with a 1.000 slugging percentage.
  • Solis is tied for eighth in the conference with a .500 batting average and fourth in slugging percentage (.929)
