MARSHALL, Texas – Falling behind early in the mid-week game, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team fell to Millsaps College, 13-4, on Tuesday night at Woods Field. ETBU is now 1-9 overall.
Seven ETBU players would pick up a hit as
Samuel Rowland (RBI),
Zachary McAdams,
Cameron Neel,
Cole Dickie (RBI, 2B),
James Rupert,
Lucas McCrum, and
Sayers Collins (2 RBI, HR) would contribute to ETBU's offense.
Austin Schaper started the game and would and would record the loss going 0.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits.
MC would score three runs in the top of the first inning, which included a pair of home runs. Then, a two-run double in the second inning made it 5-0. Six more runs in the next two innings made the score 11-0. ETBU put two runners on base in the bottom of the first, but came up empty. ETBU would have three more scoreless after the first.
ETBU would break up the no-hitter and score their first run in the game in the fifth inning with the bases loaded as Rowland reached on a fielder's choice to trail,11-1. MC would pick up a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to lead 13-1. Dickie would record his first hit on a RBI double in the bottom of the eighth while Collins would homer to left field on his first at-bat of the season to make the final, 13-4.
ETBU will head out to Alpine, Texas, to meet Sul Ross State University this weekend. Game one starts at 7:00 PM on Friday.
