MARSHALL, Texas – Looking to win their third match in a row, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team will host Howard Payne University in an American Southwest Conference crossover competition. ETBU is 3-1 on the year and hasn't played and ASC East match yet.
 
These two teams have played each other six times as the record is tied at 3-3. ETBU has won the last three meetings, 8-1, 5-0, and 9-0. HPU won matches in 2012 (9-0), 2013 (8-1), and 2014 (8-1) as ETBU was getting the program started.
 
ETBU is coming off wins over Texas Lutheran University, 7-2, and UMHB, 8-1, pushing their record to 3-1. ETBU has won three ASC East player of the week awards in Elisa Kendall (2) and Kelsey Roberts.
 
Not playing in two weeks, ETBU won 8-1 over UMHB taking all the matches except #2 singles. Six of the sets were won 6-0 but three different players.
 
HPU is currently 0-6 on the year and coming off a 9-0 loss to Hardin-Simmons University in an ASC West match. HPU has yet to win a match point this year.
 
ETBU will next play in San Marcos, Texas, over spring break with three different matches March 6-7.
