SAN MARCOS, Texas – Engaged in a tight battle on Friday afternoon, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team recorded a clutch victory over Schreiner University, 5-4, in San Marcos, TX. With the win, ETBU improves to 5-1 overall.
Elisa Kendall and
Ashley Schenck took the #1 doubles match, 8-5, for the first point. Corinne Hall and
Syvoney Ybarra came up short at the #2 spot, dropping the set 8-7.
Kelsey Roberts and
Kylee Mixon picked up the Tigers' second win of the day at #3 doubles with an, 8-7, advantage that was the difference in the final score.
Schenck took the #2 singles matchup with SU's Kate De Los Santos, 6-3, 6-4, to pick up the third point for ETBU. Both Roberts and
Maddi Davis carved out wins at the #3 and #6 spot respectively, winning 6-3, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-4, against Marlee Daniel and Iris Montero.
The Tigers will battle Trinity (TX) and Concordia Texas on Saturday, March 7, to close out the three-match trip in San Marcos, TX.
